Induction Essentials Pack for Recreation and Sport Boards and Committees

Supporting the Structure of Sport in South Australia - Induction Essentials Pack
These Induction Essentials Packs have been developed to assist organisations to induct new committee or board members.
The packs are especially useful to new committee or board members, but can also be a useful reference for existing and experienced committee or board members.
If the whole committee or board review the document together (maybe a chapter a month) the group will have a shared understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
An induction process will help your new board/committee members to:
- Be clear on their role
- Understand their obligations
- Build relationships with their colleagues
- Become more familiar with the sport/recreation
- Feel comfortable with current issues
There are two documents, one for purely voluntary organisations, the Committee Member Induction Essentials Pack and a second for larger organisations who employ management staff, the Board Director Induction Essentials Pack for medium-large recreation and sport organisations.
The pack outlines the essential information for board and committee members including roles and responsibilities, legal and moral obligations, board processes, managing the relationship with staff and stakeholders and guidance on conducting an induction process.
If you have interested or potential committee/board members, or wish to approach people to join your committee or board, you may consider using the brochures below that have an overview of the role and expectations of committee/ board membership:
