Local Government
Introduction
The Office for Recreation and Sport (ORS)
works in partnership with Local Governments across the State
to implement a range of initiatives that aim to:
- improve the quality of sport and active recreation
opportunities available to a community
- increase community participation in sport
and active recreation programs
Local Government programs and services supported
by ORS include:
Local Government Recreation Forum (LGRF)
The Office for Recreation and Sport provides ongoing support to the South Australian Local Government Recreation Forum (LGRF). The LGRF provides a mechanism for information exchange and networking for Local Government professionals in metropolitan and regional councils who are involved in the planning and provision of recreation and sporting opportunities for their community.
The LGRF meets 5 to 6 times per year for a two and a half hour workshop to discuss topical sport and recreation issues and provide a face to face networking opportunity for relevant local government staff.
The attached information sheet below provides further information on the LGRF's members, purpose, involvement benefits and achievements.
